Winter Quarter Update

By: R'Garden Intern

Hello all,
R’Garden staff and interns are excited to usher in a new year with lots of exciting plans starting in the winter quarter! We’re currently preparing to start harvest cauliflower, kale, lettuce, broccoli, and onions later this season and laying new beds to expand our produce production once the cold spell is over. With 4 new interns and some brand new equipment we are looking forward to increasing our production this year. Because of our increase in student involvement, this quarter we will be putting on several intern led workshops on various topics. From subjects like plant pot painting to home garden pest management, we’d like to welcome all community members to join us for these weekly workshops. A listed schedule will be posted soon! We’re also eagerly anticipating the completion of our solar greenhouse this year. With that finished, we’ll be able to start our new horticultural endeavors and focus on taking care of crop rows and the installment of our portable greenhouse, called a hoophouse. And finally, a few highly anticipate community garden plots will be opened and assigned to waitlisted community members. We hope to see you on our future volunteer days!
